Funeral services are 2 p.m. Friday at Nowlin Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in De Leon Cemetery, under the direction of Nowlin Funeral Home with Bro. Jackie Auvenshine officiating. He was born on July 12, 1938 in Gorman, Texas to the late Carlton V. Bassett and Doris Hamrick. He was a member of the Eastland First Baptist Church. Survivors include two sisters, Mary Lee Cottrell and husband, B.J. of DeLeon and Carla Jean Jones of Stamford; nephews, Corky Cottrell and Mark Cottrell; neices, Jo Olsovsky and Cathy Urick; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Family visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursay at Nowlin Funeral Home in DeLeon, Texas.
