(WEDOWEE) - Services for W. B. "Billy" Bassett Jr., 55, of Wedowee, formerly of Smyrna, Ga., will be Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002, at 11 a.m. at Midway United Methodist Church, with the Revs. James Manley and Clay Manley officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
Mr. Bassett died Monday, Feb. 11, at Northeast Regional Medical Center, Anniston.
A Randolph County native, Mr. Bassett was born May 26, 1946, son of Willie Byrd Bassett Sr. and Gladys Parmer Bassett. He was a member of Midway United Methodist Church and had been employed with Beers Construction Company in Atlanta.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Bassett of Wedowee; two daughters, Lisa Alene Bassett of Jacksonville, Fla., and Carolyn B. Hall of Wedowee; son-in-law Dann Hall of Wedowee; two grandchildren; three sisters, Wylodene Clark of Roanoke, Juanita Ussery of McDonough, Ga., and Margaret Myers of Pikeville, Tenn.; and one brother, Kim Bassett of Ashland.
The family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home, Wedowee, after 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 13. Mr. Bassett will lie in state at the church for on ehour prior to services on Thursday.
Pallbearers will be Hank Johns, Larry Darnell, Lee Noles, Bill Hodge, Robert French and Jimmy McCain. Honorary pallbearers will be former company members.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to American Kidney Foundation (6100 Executive Blvd., Suite 1010, Rockville, MD 28952).
