Billie Jean (Bassett) Callahan
Funeral service for Billie Jean Bassett Callahan, 77, will be Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Curtis and Son Childersburg Chapel with the Rev. Mark Deason presiding. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery.
Mrs. Callahan died Friday, Nov. 22, 2013, at Coosa Valley Medical Center. She worked for Merryweather Foam, Sylacauga Hospital and Mitchell Oil Company. She was a member of St. Andrews Methodist Church and participated in many church functions. She enjoyed cooking, helping other people and loved maintaining her friendships with her high school friends. She was a very giving and loving person.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Lorene Bassett; sister, Carol Ledford; and son, Rusty McCormick II.
She is survived by her daughters, Susan McGrady (Kenneth) of Sylacauga and Michelle Fortenbury (Dale) of Childersburg; daughter-in-law, Teresa McCormick of Georgia; brother, Greg Bassett of Childersburg; grandchildren, Gene McCormick, Tracy McCormick, Nathan McGrady and Kasi Fortenbury (Jason); and great-grandchildren, Austin McCormick, Alexis Kennedy, Bricen Kennedy, Brett Kennedy, Rusty "Trey" McCormick III and Brittany McCormick.
Pallbearers will be Tony Aarhus, Jarrett Ledford Jr., Jay Embry, Chuck Carter, Byron Giddens and Kevin Swimm.
Visitation will be held Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013, from 5:30-8 p.m. at Curtis and Son Childersburg Chapel.
