Raymond Bassett (1926-2010) (Picture included)
Raymond "Bud" Bassett, 84 of Middleton, passed away, Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010 at his home.
Bud was born Aug. 6, 1926 to Doyle and Beverly Bassett in Paris, Ark. He attended school in Greenwood, Ark. He served in US Navy during WWII from 1944 to 1946.
Bud met and married Rita Moyer in California on Sept. 18, 1947. They were married 62 years when Rita passed on Sept 3, 2009.
It was Bud"s love of hunting and fishing that caused him to move his family to Arlee, Mont., in 1962. There he and Rita purchased an 80-acre ranch and bred cattle.
In 1969 they moved to Caldwell, where Bud managed Ideal and later Fireball Travel Trailers.
He later formed a partnership with Mike Lesch to create Lesch & Bassett RV and semi-retired at the age of 50. Bud continued to stay active with hunting, fishing and golfing until his passing.
Bud is survived by his daughter Carolyn Mally and her husband Jim; his son, Kenneth and his wife Dana; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and two brothers, Jim Bassett and John Bassett.
Cremation is with Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. There is an open house to celebrate Bud"s life, today, Tuesday Sept. 7, 2010 at 22838, Bumble Bee Lane, Middleton, from 3 to 7 p.m.
