He was 65, a native of Troy, Ala., and a resident of Denham Springs. He was retired and a member of Sheet Metal Local 21. Visiting at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs, 10 a.m. to religious services at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, conducted by the Rev. Terry Booth. Burial in Amite Baptist Church Cemetery. Survived by wife, Helen Elaine Bassett; two daughters, Geraldine Loper and Barbara Hull, both of Denham Springs; six sons, Royce Bassett, Baton Rouge, Don Bassett, Husser, Eddie, Robert, Randy and Steve Bassett, all of Denham Springs; two sisters, Juanita Nicholson, Brundidge, Ala., and Dorothy Hall, San Angelo, Texas; four brothers, John Bassett, Locust Grove, Ga., Lonnie Bassett, Mitchelville, Md., George Bassett, Tucson, Ariz., and Charles Bassett, Greensboro, Ga., and 14 grandchildren. Preceded in death by two brothers, Eddie Royce Bassett and Earl Jackson Bassett; a grandson, Darrin Hull; parents, Sam and Naomi Bassett; and a sister, Chesinta Harrell. Pallbearers will be relatives and friends. He was a member of Amite Baptist Church, Denham Springs.
