Walton Bassett, 67
DE LEON (BBC) ? Services for Walton T. Bassett, 67, of De Leon, a lifetime resident of Comanche County, will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in Higginbotham Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy E. Spencer, pastor of the De Leon First Baptist Church, officiating.
Mr. Bassett, a retired employe of De Leon Peanut Co., died at 11 p.m. Monday in De Leon Municipal Hospital after a long illness.
Born Jan. 31, 1905 in Comanche County, he married Hazel Preston Dec. 21, 1934 at De Leon and was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Shirley Prud?homme of Austin and Mrs. Jolene Whitehurst of Pecos; two sisters, Mrs. Esteen Piper of De Leon and Mrs. Mary E. Corbell of Fort Worth; four brothers, C. V. Bassett and D.L. Bassett, both of De Leon, J.C. Bassett of Dublin and Gaston Bassett of Irving; and eight grandchildren.

Walton T. Bassett, age 87, a retired employee of the DeLeon Peanut Co., died at 11 pm Mon., 28 Aug 1972 in the DeLeon Hosp. after a long illness. Funeral was conducted on Weds., 30 Aug 1972 at 2:30 pm in the Higginbotham Funeral Chapel. Burial was in the DeLeon Cem. Mr. Bassett was born 31 Jan 1905 in Comanche Co., he had lived in DeLeon all of his life. He married Hazel Preston on 21 Dec 1934 in DeLeon. He was a member of the 1st Bapt. Church.
