?Would Not Blend?
Arthur George Bassett, St. Mary?s-road, Tonbridge, was summoned by his wife, Susanna Bassett, 2, Church-row, Tonbridge, for neglecting to maintain her.
Susanna Bassett said she was married in November, 1918, at Tunbridge Wells. Her husband had given her only £1 within the last five weeks. She had been living with him until five weeks ago, but she ran away on February 5th. She returned the next day, but he would not let her in. He was a fireman on the railway.
Defendant said the cause of the trouble was his wife?s jealously, and he ?could not go through with it?.
Mr. G.H. Rogers said he had visited the couple on many occasions. The home was clean and defendant had never complained about his meals. He thought there was some misunderstanding, and their natures would not blend.
An order was made for £1 a week with 8s. 6d. costs.
