KESWICK, October 8. ? Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Bassett of Moberly, Mo., arrived here Wednesday. They came to visit Mr. and Mrs. John Irons. Mrs. Bassett is a daughter of John Irons whom he had not seen for thirty years, or since he left Missouri to come west. The brought his motherless son with him, but he left his motherless girl behind him with his sister. The ?girl? is now Mrs. Bassett, and, what is more, she brought two children with her. They have learned to sit on John Irons? lap and call him grandpa.

Mrs. J.E. Bassett Dies Suddenly at Her Home Here
Mrs. J. Elliston Bassett, 72, died about 8:10 o’clock this morning at her home, 737 West Rollins street, after suddenly becoming ill about 7 o’clock.
Mrs. Bassett’s two young granddaughters, Jeanette and Suzanne Waddill of Kansas City, were visiting their grandparents and were alone with Mrs. Bassett when she became ill. They summoned her sister-in-law, Mrs. C.E. Zahl, who hurried to the home and called a physician, but Mrs. Bassett died a few minutes after his arrival. He said death apparently was caused by a heart attack.
Mr. Bassett, a Wabash conductor, was on his run this morning and arrived in Moberly at noon today.
Mrs. Bassett also is survived by a son, Master Sergeant Jimmie Bassett, Fort Dix, New Jersey, and a daughter, Mrs. Harold Waddill of Kansas City. Sgt. Bassett only recently visited his parents, reporting to Fort Dix for duty in Germany. He had not yet left the fort. Mrs. Waddill, who had been here also, left last night for her home.
Mrs. Bassett, the former Miss Nell Ruth Irons, was born on the McKinsey homestead, where Templewood, home of Mr. and Mrs. Temple J. Stephens, now stands. She was reared by an aunt, Mrs. Betty McKinsey. She was long a member of Central Christian Church and of its Christian Women’s Fellowship, active in the work of both.
The body is in the Mahan Funeral Home.
