Marcia Bass McGowan of Okeechobee died November 15, 2013. She was born December 21, 1959 in Fort Pierce. She was a lifetime resident of Okeechobee. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Okeechobee Cattleman’s Association. She enjoyed ranching, gardening and spending time outdoors. Mrs. McGowan is survived by her husband, Thomas McGowan III; two sons, Carey Daniel (Amy) and Zachary McGowan (Chelsie Houston); parents, J.C. and JoAnne Bass; brother, Marc Bass (Theda); two sisters, Denise Colgan (Jim) and Kim Thomas (Dan); aunt, Elda Mae Bass all of Okeechobee; mother-in-law, Susan McGowan of Lyndhurst, Ohio; sisters-in-law, Deb McGowan of Glendale, Arizona, Joan Szabo of Richmond Heights, Ohio, Michele Toomey of Lyndhurst, Ohio and Mary Winters of South Euclid, Ohio; and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at Buxton & Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at Buxton & Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home with Pastor Monroe Arnold officiating. Interment will follow at Basinger Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Okeechobee County 4-H or Master Gardener’s Program, 458 Highway 98 North, Okeechobee, Florida 34972.
