The village of Danville was laid out by Daniel E. Bassett, on a part of Section 21, Mr. B. owning the land upon which it was located. It is the only village in the town, and the place in which the town business is transacted. Its growth has been limited and, after the lapse of thirty years, its population does not exceed what it was at that time. Daniel E. Bassett opened the first store, and one of the first physicians in the village was Dr. C. W. Bond.
