As a small child, she and her family moved to Powell, Wyo. Then in her teen years, they moved to Billings. Mom graduated from Billings Senior High in 1948.
Mom met and married our dad, Richard Bassett, on June 12, 1948, in Billings. They had two children, Barbara and Dick. Mom and Dad lived in Custer, Hysham, Sumatra and Ingomar. When Dad passed away in March 1997, Mom moved to Forsyth where she had a cleaning business. When diagnosed with cancer, she moved to the Roundup Nursing Home.
Mom was a ranch wife and loved to cook for the branding and shipping crews and the hunters who came to hunt in the fall ? and a cook she was.
Mom also loved to bake and decorate cakes for any occasion, plus make candy and treats for the holidays, which will be greatly missed. She also loved to garden and did a lot of canning.
Mom was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Richard. She is survived by children Barbara Hillman of Melstone and Dick (Peggy) Bassett of Roundup; grandchildren Peggy Hillman, Susan Hillman-Salveson, Pete (Ashlee) Bassett, Amber (C.J.) Yochum, and J.D.
