Death of an Aged Man
Burl Bassett, Brother of Robert Bassett of This City, Died This Morning

Burl Bassett, an aged farmer who lives one mile east of Middle Grove, died at his home at 2 a.m. today, after a long illness.
Mr. Bassett was born May 1, 1835, near Brandenburg, Ky. He was 76 years of age at his death and had spent most of his life in Monroe county. He had many relatives and friends who will mourn his death. He was a highly respected citizen and one whom every one loved.
Deceased leaves to mourn his death, 5 children, three sons and two daughters. The sons are J.H. Bassett of Liberty, Missouri; J.J. of Cheyenne, Wyoming and T.E. of Middle Grove. The daughters are Mrs. F. Kennedy of Sturgeon; Miss Kate Bassett of Middle Grove. He also leaves seven brothers, J.J., P.H., H., D.H. and T.E. Bassett of this city; S.S. Bassett of Paris, A.M. Bassett of LaGrange, T.M. Bassett of Madison and one sister, Mrs. H.P. Jennings of this city.
The funeral will be held at 2 o’clock, Thursday at Middle Grove. Burial at Middle Grove cemetery. Mr. Bassett had been a resident of Missouri for about seventy years.
The bereaved family have our deepest sympathy.
