Larry W. Bassett
Larry W. Bassett, 56, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005, after a two year battle with cancer, at home. Born June 15, 1948, in Antwerp, Ohio, he was the son of Basil and Alice (Winters) Bassett. He graduated from Woodland High School, in 1966. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Vietnam from 1968 to 1969. He married Della Miller on Aug. 19, 1972. He was a welder at Vulcraft, St. Joe. He was member of Central Mennonite Church, Fort Wayne. He is survived by his wife, Della; a daughter, Melissa (Brian) Tope of Paulding, Ohio; two sons, Eric (Jessica Bayliss) of Napoleon, Ohio and Brian (Jamie Savage) of Hicksville, Ohio; two grandchlidren, Megan and Logan Tope; two sisters, Carol (Jerry) Gambrell of Stony Ridge, Ohio and Janice (John) Campbell of Fort Wayne; and three brothers, Daune (Sheila) and Dave (Michelle), both of Hicksville, Ohio and Jim (Joy) of Hamilton, Ind. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral service 2 p.m. Sunday at Central Mennonite Church, 5801 Schwartz Road, Fort Wayne. Pastor Don Delagrange officiating. Visitation is from 5 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Smith & Brown Funeral Home, Hicksville. Burial at Six Corners Cemetery, Hicksville, Ohio.
