Leo Anthony Myers
Leo Anthony Myers, 85, of Midland, passed away peacefully with family by his side, June 17, 2017. Leo was born in Midland Nov. 9, 1931 to Anthony and Sarah (Bassett) Myers.
Leo attended Midland schools, graduating from Midland High School in 1951. He was a long time member of the Midland Chapter 18 FFA, raising animals and exhibiting the champion Brown Swiss cow at the 1949 State Fair. Leo showed cattle for more than 40 years at the Midland County Fair. His passion has carried on to his children and grandchildren; they, too, have shown livestock and horses at the Midland County Fair and throughout the state. Leo was a proud farmer and was active until the time of his passing. He was a life-long resident in Larkin Township and in addition to farming, was employed by Chambers Saw Mill for 36 years, Gay Excavating and then by Servinski Sod Service until his retirement in 2012. Leo loved hunting and bagged a nice eight-point buck at the age of 80. He also loved antique tractor pulling, and raising Belgian draft horses that were used for weddings, hayrides, recreational farming and other special events. After retirement, Leo enjoyed traveling with friends. Leo was also a life-long member of Assumption of the BVM Catholic Church-serving as a lay minister and the Director of Altar Boys in earlier years.
Leo married his beloved Angela Marie Connelly, Oct. 1, 1955 and she survives him. Also surviving are his children, Tim (Kim) Myers, Tara (Ron) Kutchey, Tricia (Rodney) Steele and Tammi (Myron Greene) Myers; brother-in-law, Earl Chambers Jr.; sister-in-law, Joyce Myers; grandchildren, Chad Steendam, Adam Thiel, Abbie Myers, Garrett Kutchey, Chandler Steele, Chase Steele, Justin Sanderson, Julia Sanderson, Madison Greene; great-grandson, Dennis Steendam; and many nieces and nephews. Leo was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Myers; sister, Betty Chambers; and sons, Tony Michael and Todd William Myers.

The family would like to express sincere thanks and appreciation to Dr. Teona Maghlakelidze, Dr. Gregory Dardas, Southern Care Hospice and Cascades Senior Living staff for the outstanding care and compassion shown to Leo and his family.
The funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at Assumption of the BVM Catholic Church in Midland with Father Joe Griffin officiating on Friday, June 23 at 11 a.m. and viewing at 10 a.m. until the time of Mass. Burial will be in New Calvary Cemetery. Leo's family will receive friends at Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 W. Wheeler St. in Midland on Thursday, June 22 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the regional FFA program (Coleman Community Schools).
