Kathryn Jenkins Bass
Edenton Resident
Kathryn Jenkins Bass, 83, of the 100 block of Morris Circle, and formerly of Elizabeth City, died Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009 in Chowan Hospital.
Mrs. Bass was born in Guilford Co. and was the daughter of the late John B., Jr. and Elizabeth Luton Jenkins. A retired secretary from the office of Dr. W.F. Harrell, she was a member of Blackwell Memorial Baptist Church in Elizabeth City where she had served as the secretary of the Beginners Department and had formerly been active in the Women's Missionary Union. Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Bass; her daughter-in-law, Sherian G. Bass; and a sister, Grace J. Brothers.
Surviving are her son, Richard John Bass of Edenton, two grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Rd., Edenton, by the Rev. Corey Miller. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. in New Hollywood Cemetery, Elizabeth City. Friends may join the family at the funeral home on Thursday from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. and all other times at the home of her son, 107 Morris Circle, Edenton.
