Herald Elton Bassett
Herald Elton Bassett of Cadillac passed away, Thursday, April 25, 2024 at Whispering Pines. He was 88. Herald was born on July 1, 1935 to Elias and Mabel Bassett.
He graduated from Pellston High School in 1953 and later that year on July 30, 1953. He married the former Joyce G. Waldeck in Pellston. In 1962 they moved to Cadillac where Herald began working for Round House Lumber. From there Herald moved to the City of Cadillac Fire Department where he had a 25 year long career, serving as chief for nine and half years.
His faith was strong and Herald enjoyed serving the Lord through volunteering at church camps. He also enjoyed traveling over the years.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce; sons: Brian (Nancy) Bassett of California, Roger (Rhonda) Bassett, Ken (Molly) Basset all of Cadillac; eight grandchildren: many great-grandchildren and a special niece, Melody Lanew.
Herald was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Stephen Bassett; brothers: Robert, Elsworth, Homer and his twin brother, Jerald.
