Esther Bass
Funeral services for Esther Elizabeth Goodwin Bass, 87, of Vidalia, LA will be held at Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday on Thursday, September 3, 2026 at 11AM with Bro. Phillip Watts officiating. Interment will follow at Harrisonburg Cemetery, under the direction of Young's Funeral Home. The family will receive fr??iends at the funeral home on Thursday from 10AM until 11AM.
Elizabeth was born on Thursday, February 9, 1939 in Plattenburg, LA and passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2026 at her home surrounded by loved ones. She was a strong woman and a hard worker who faced life with determination and courage. For many years, she battled sickness and never gave up, showing the strength and perseverance that defined her. She enjoyed the simple things in life, especially mowing and keeping her yard clean and looking nice. Elizabeth also enjoyed fishing and watching WWE. But above all, her greatest joy was her family. She loved her children dearly and treasured every moment with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family was her pride and joy, and she cherished the memories they made together. Elizabeth has now found peace and is reunited with her beloved husband. Though she will be deeply missed, her strength, love, and memories will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
She is reunited with her beloved husband, Richard Lee Bass, Sr.; parents, Joseph Ivan Goodwin and Nina Mangrum Goodwin; daughter, Mitzi Boyler; and siblings, Rollie Anderson, George Anderson, James Goodwin, Robert Goodwin, Vilettia Ola, and Cora Reid.
Those left behind to cherish Elizabeth's memories are her sons, James "Don" Mulvihill, William "Bill" Goodwin, Richard "Ricky" Bass & his wife Amber, Albert Lee Mulvihill, and Devin Bass; daughters, Wanda Claxton, Kay Snelson & her husband Derand; grandchildren, Jessi, Atlee, Cody, Heather, Ricky, Jr., Harley, Ruby Ann, Christopher, Weessie, Jamie, James, and Melissa; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Those to cherish Elizabeth as pallbearers are Derand Snelson, Cody Snelson, Lanny Bass, and Devin Bass.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Enhabit Hospice and their compassionate staff for the love, care, kindness, and support they provided throughout this difficult time. Your presence and dedication brought comfort to Elizabeth and her family, and your kindness will always be remembered and deeply appreciated.
