Earl “Gator” Bass
November 20, 1934 - July 26, 2012
Earl "Gator" Bass, of Basinger, passed away July 26, 2012 at the Okeechobee Health Care Facility. He was born November 20, 1934 to the late Eddie and Oveda Bass. He was a lifelong rancher and member of the North Okeechobee Church of God. He enjoyed playing and listening to Blue Grass music. He was also a cutting horse trainer and enjoyed running fox hounds. Mr. Bass was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Clint Bass. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Kathie Thomas Bass; son, Keith Bass (Darlene) of Okeechobee; two daughters, Cari Lynn Dunn (Allen) of Carrolton, Georgia and Earlaine “Missy” Bass of Knightdale, North Carolina; stepson, Bear Sutton; stepdaughter, Angela Pendrey (Keith) all of Okeechobee; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; sister, Alma Stokes; and mother-in-law, Katherine Thomas both of Okeechobee. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday, July 29, 2012 at Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 30, 2012 at Basinger Cemetery with Bill Sherman and Duck Smith officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to defray funeral expenses. Friends may sign the guest book at www.BassOkeechobeeFH.com.
