Ruth Virginia Zendt
Ruth Virginia Bass, passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2000. She was born Ruth Virginia Zendt in Hazelhurst, IL on October 7, 1907. She learned to love the West when she lived as a child in Rock Springs, WY from 1909 to 1916. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elvin "Johnnie" Bass. They were married in 1935, and moved to Albuquerque in 1936. She retired from USGS, and in retirement, she enjoyed many summers with her husband in Vallecito, CO. She is survived by her daughter, Dottie, and her loving friends. Graveside services will be held Friday, 11:00 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE with Randy M. Deckwerth officiating. Friends may visit French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, Thursday, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions may be made to the Music Department of First Congregational Church, UCC, 2801 Lomas Blvd. NE, 87107, the Animal Humane Association of New Mexico, Inc., 615 Virginia SE, 87108, or to Sandia Hospice, 4725 Indian School Rd NE, 87110.
