      Funeral services for William S. Bass, 56 years old, who died early Sunday morning from acute indigestion at his residence at 215 Bellevue street, were to be held this afternoon at the Fairview church near Advance. The body was removed there from the Walther Funeral Home just before noon. Rev. L. Blackburn, pastor of the General Baptist church, was to conduct the services.
      Bass had been ill for about a year and recently suffered a relapse. He moved to Cape Girardeau from Delta 10 years ago, where he was engaged in farming most of his life. Since moving to this city he had been employed by the McGeorge and Regenhardt construction companies.
      Besides his widow, Bass is survived by a son, Orvel, two step-sons, Robert and Luther Tilley; and a daughter, Mrs. Artie London, all of Cape Girardeau. A brother, Luke, resides at Advance, and a half-brother, Green Bass, and a half-sister, Mrs. Emeline Flowers, live in this city.
