Robert Bassett
Robert C. Bassett, 65, 720 NE Washington, Apt, 195, died Thursday in the Danville Veterans Medical Center.
Born Dec. 13, 1920, in Shelbina, Mo., to Oscar L. and Jenny Davis Bassett, he married Dorene E. Kennerly on Sept. 25, 1947, in Shelbina.
Surviving are his wife; three sons, Chester, Gary and Keith, and one daughter, Sheila, all of Peoria; 13 grandchildren, one brother, Harold of Joliet; and two sisters, Mrs. Virginia Williams of Hannibal, Mo., and Mrs. Oneida Harris of Bartonville. Two brothers preceded him in death.
He worked for the Rock Island Railroad for 31 years, last as a foreman before retiring. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Simons Mortuary, the Rev. Lenill Thornton officiating. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. Monday until services at the Mortuary.
Memorial may be made to the American Cancer Society.
