He came to this county with his parents in 1861, and has resided here continuously since that time. He was united in marriage with Susan Hillyer Nov. 1, 1885. To this union was born seven children: Arthur L., Myrtle E., Ernest S., H. Elmer, Ralph E, Inez E. and Charles E., who with the wife and mother survive. He united with the Christian church in Morocco in 1877 and with the Beaver City Baptist church Sept. 11, 1899. He served as a deacon in the church until his death, and also as superintendent of the Sunday school. On February 7, 1918, he was stricken with apoplexy. Everything in the way of medical aid and loving care was done for him, but on April 13 he suffered as second stroke, gradually sinking until Saturday, April 15, when he entered his eternal reward. Besides the immediate family he leaves two brothers, Isaac and William, one half brother, Adolphus H. and two granddaughters. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church Tuesday afternoon, the Rev. R.S. Lantz preaching the sermon and the remains laid to rest in the North cemetery.
