  Notes	Robert Bassett purchased his first land in Stratford, Fairfield County, Connecticut on 16 Nov 1681. In February of 1682 he purchased a house lot from John Wells and in 1683 he bult a house upon this lot, placing a stone in the ceiling with the following letters and figures cut into the stone: "R. B. 1683". Samuel Bassett was commissioned as an Ensign in 1722, Lieutenant in 1732 and Captain in 1735. He was justice of the peace from 1739 to 1761. He represented the town of Derby (Connecticut) in the general court from 1733 to 1764. He built a house on land given to him by his father in 1727 in Derby, Connecticut.
