Evelyn ?Ginger? Bassett
GOOSE CREEK - Evelyn "Ginger" Bassett, of Goose Creek, SC passed away on March 3rd, 2018 due to complications from Alzheimer's disease. Ginger was born in Washington, DC on November 20th, 1941, the first child of Harvey and Mary Mattingly of Upper Marlboro, MD. Ginger graduated from Suitland High School in Maryland in 1959 then joined the Civil Service, where she would work for the next 30 years. In support of her husband's Navy career, Ginger lived in Charleston, SC; Norfolk, VA; Groton, CT; Washington, DC; Keflavik, Iceland; and London, England before settling in Goose Creek in 1978. Ginger was dedicated to her two sons and grandsons who will miss her dearly. Ginger is survived by her mother, Mary Mattingly of Forestville, MD; her sons, Robert, Jr. of Woodbridge, VA and Michael of Goose Creek, SC; five brothers; two grandsons, Matthew Lee and Sean Andrew; and one great-grandson. The family asks that you consider making a donation to the Alzheimer?s Association in her name.
