Ruth V. Bass
Ruth Vernell Bass, 78, passed away May 12, 2002, at Virginia Beach General.
Mrs. Bass was born in Norfolk and was the daughter of the late George W. Murden and Ivory Ruth Tomlin Murden. She was the widow of Wilmer Raye Bass. She was a veteran of World War II and was a published author and member in good standing with the International Society of Poets.
Survivors include her daughter, Lynnell Bass Fitzwilliams and husband John, and a grandson, Timothy J. Fitzwilliams, all of Virginia Beach.
A chapel service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road chapel, by Pastor Vinny Losciale. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m.
