Sherlene Bass
Sherlene Lenora Allender (Bass) passed away on April 2, 2024, in Dublin, Ohio, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness that touched the lives of many. Born on November 6, 1935, in Zanesville, Ohio, she was the beloved daughter of Bessie and John Allender.
Sherlene was known for her boundless and unwavering love and compassion, which she generously shared with everyone she encountered. Her warmth and genuine care made her a cherished presence in the lives of her family, friends, and, making her presence unforgettable.
In her journey through life, Sherlene faced both joy and sorrow. She was preceded in death by her mother, Bessie Waddeker (Allender), her father, John Allender, her son, David Allender (Bass), and her grandson, Michael Bass. Their memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved them.
Sherlene is survived by her siblings Martha Allender (Lang) and Edward Allender (Norma), her children Teresa Bass, Leisa Allender, Vernard Bass, and Vaughn Bass Jr. She also leaves behind a legacy through her cherished grandchildren: Arthur Saunders, Keith Bass, Anthony Allender, Monique Patrick, Danielle Edwards, Damon Edwards, Taryn Bass, Abby Lutz, Nikia Allender, Jonathan Johnson, Dianesty Johnson, Janise Bass, and Vaughn Bass III, and 28 great-grandchildren. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to live on in the lives of her loved ones.
Throughout her life, Sherlene's kindness, generosity, and love knew no bounds. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion and warmth that will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Sherlene Lenora Allender (Bass) was a beacon of love and compassion in the community of Southfield and within her family. Her heart overflowed with boundless love, which she extended generously to all who crossed her path. Southfield was not just a place she lived; it was a community she cherished and nurtured with her kindness. Sherlene's love for her community was evident in her selfless acts of service and her willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Whether it was coaching baseball, volunteering, providing rides for the kids in the neighborhood to bowling, football, baseball, and swimming, or simply offering a listening ear to her neighbors, Sherlene was always there, ready to support and uplift those around her.
But her love didn't stop at the borders of Southfield. Sherlene's family was the center of her universe, and she poured her heart and soul into nurturing those relationships. Her love knew no bounds, and she made sure that each member of her family felt cherished and valued.
What truly set Sherlene apart was her ability to connect with people on a deep and personal level. She knew no stranger, greeting everyone she met with a warm smile and an open heart. Her genuine interest in others and her ability to make people feel seen and appreciated endeared her to all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
