Mamie Allison Bassett
Services for Mamie Allison Goins Bassett, 87, of Thomasville, are today, Oct. 30, 2007, at 11 a.m. at Allen and Allen Funeral Home Chapel. Ministers Coulter Wickerham and Allan McNabb will officiate and interment follows in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers are Craig Bassett, Brandon Bassett, Kevin Anderson, Heath Bassett, Tim Goins and Joe Cifuentes. Mrs. Bassett died Oct. 27, at her residence. The daughter of the late Calvin and Mary Emma Lee Beasley Goins, she was born on Nov. 30, 1919, in Hickman County, Tenn. On Feb. 19, 1949 in Dover, Fla., Mrs. Bassett married Farrell Ward Bassett, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Bassett earned a bachelor of science degree from the University of Tennessee in 1945. She was retired from the Hillsborough County Extension Service, where she was employed as a home economist. Mrs. Bassett was a member of the Moultrie Road Church of Christ. Survivors include two sons and daughter-in-law, Malcolm and Diane Bassett of Thomasville, Carlton and Beth Bassett of Tallahassee, Fla.; a daughter and son-in-law Melany and Mark NeSmith of Thomasville; a son, Steve Bassett of Thomasville; 11 grandchildren, Malcolm Bassett Jr., Daphne Bassett, Bradley Bassett, Jason NeSmith, Carrie NeSmith, Heath Bassett, Kelly Bassett, Brooke Bassett, Jessica Anderson, Allison NeSmith; a brother and sister-in-law, Arnold and Mary Goins of Lutz, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
