Florence Mary (Brown) Wolcott
FLORENCE MARY (BROWN) WOLCOTT - MILTON - Florence Mary (Brown) Wolcott, 86, passed away Friday, Jan. 13, 2012, in Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington. Florence was born on Sept. 29, 1925, in Colchester, the daughter of the late Joseph D. Bessette and Mary Sweeney Bessette Brown. While raising eight children in Colchester, Mom performed housekeeping chores for various Burlington business people. Mom enjoyed living in South Carolina with her husband, son Gary, as well as being near her daughter, Beverly. Mom enjoyed Bingo, singing and playing guitar, and working at the National Waterlift Co. in South Carolina making F-18 fighter jet parts. She enjoyed planting and watching flowers grow from spring to fall. In her later years, Mom moved back to Vermont to live with her daughter, Elizabeth and her husband, Bernard Couture, of Milton, again enjoying flowers peeping through the ground in the spring, their full color in the summer, snow on the trees in the winter and the color of the leaves in the fall. She also enjoyed shopping, cooking and taking care of us. Mom enjoyed spending quality time with her brother, Ed, since the passing of her sister, Betty. Visitors and mail were always something she looked forward to. She was our mother and best friend. She had the spirit and strength unknown to the rest of our family. Thank you Lord, for sending the beautiful snowflakes at the time of her passing. She leaves her children, Elizabeth, Samuel, Roger, Charles, Beverly, Nancy, Gregory, Gary, and their spouses; her grandchildren, great- and great-great-grandchildren; as well as her brother, Edward Bessette of Colchester, and her sister, Helen Lavee of Colorado; and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Robert, George, Joseph, John, and Raymond; sisters, Isabelle, Elizabeth, and Hazel; two granddaughters, Rosemary and Melinda LeBold-Wolcott, of South Carolina; and her former husband of many years, Samuel F. Wolcott. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Minor Funeral Home in Milton. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. in the Minor Funeral Home. Burial will follow in St. Ann's Cemetery. Online condolences may be made to www.minorfh.com <http://www.minorfh.com/>.
