Clark Bass
BASS Funeral services for long time banker Clark Bass will be Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in McAlester, Bass died at his home Monday. Services will be conducted by Dr. Kevin Boyd, Rev. Dick Gibbons and Rev. Bill Gillford. The family will receive guests Tuesday at Bishop Funeral Home between 6 and 7:30 p.m. Born July 31, 1912 in Caddo, OK, he was the son of Amos K. and Eugena Chinn Bass. He attended school in Durant, Southeastern State College, and graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1934. He served 4 years in the Air Force during WWII. He then started a career that spanned a lifetime of achievements in the finance and banking community. He was a member and Elder of the First Presbyterian Church, a 40 year L ions Club member, Rotary Member, Chairman of the Board of the McAlester Regional Hospital for many years, active in Oklahoma Banking for over 50 years and recognized as the Independent Banker of the Year. Clark began his banking career in Durant, Oklahoma in 1950. He was President of the Durant National Bank & Trust Co., organized the Inwood National Bank in Dallas, Texas in 1961 and has been President of the First National Bank & Trust Company, McAlester since 1963, and moved to McAlester in 1966.He married Wanda Louise Jones on November 25, 1951 in DeQueen, Arkansas. She sur vives him and continues as Chairman of the Board of the First National Bank & Trust Company of McAlester where she has worked with him for the past 30 years. Survivors include one daughter and two sons, Louise L. Bass of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Boyd Clark Bass of Ft. Collins, Colorado and Carlton Clark Bass of McAlester. Two daughters-in-law: Tina Bass and son Justin Johnson of McAlester, Barbara Winternitiz of Ft. Collins, Colorado and a grandson, Noah Isaac Bass of Ft. Collins, CO. A nephew and niece: Ken Bass of Wilburton and Suzaine Bain, of Longtown and a sister-in-law, Bronaugh Bass, of McAlester and numerous other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Mary Jane McPheron and a brother Amos K. Bass II. The family requests donations be made to the Clark and Wanda Bass Scholarship Fund at the Eastern Oklahoma State College, McAlester Campus. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Home of McAlester. McAlester.
