City Resident Celebrates Her 90th Birthday
Mrs. Agneline Bessette noted her ninetieth birthday Tuesday at the home of her grandson, Wilfred H. Johson, 328 Cornelia St.
The day was spent quietly with visits from her several children and other relatives.
Mrs. Bessette noted the event by visiting a hairdresser. She enjoys reading and is agile, insisting on attending in her own cooking and household chores.
Mrs. Bessette, the former Angeline Vinclette, was born on Isle La Motte in 1872, a daughter of Peter and Angeline (Ratta) Vinclette.
She lived most of her life in the Town of Chazy.
She was twice married. Her first husband was Henry Laramie. Her second husband was Peter Bessette.
She has six of her seven children surviving. They are Bert, Henry and Homer Laramie, Mrs. Marion St. John of Coopersville, Mrs. May Donah and Mrs. Jennie Hewson of Plattsburgh.

Mrs. Angeline Bessette
Mrs. Angeline Bessette, 90 of Chazy, widow of Peter Bessette, died Thursday at Physician’s Hospital. She was born May 15, 1872 in Manchester, N.H., daughter of Peter and Adeline (Ratta) VanSlette.
Mrs. Bessette is survived by two sons by a former marriage, Henry Laramie of Plattsburgh and Homer Laramie of Champlain; three daughters, Mrs. Mae Donah and Mrs. James Hewson of Plattsburgh and Mrs. Miriam St. Johns of Cooperville; two sisters, Mrs. Elza O’Clair of Burlingt, Vt., and Mrs. Edward Cook of Burke; 22 grandchildren, 24 greatgrandchildren andn 10 great great grandchildren.
The body is at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home. Calling hours will begin today at 7 p.m. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
