PROBATE 1 Nov 1843, inventory, appraisement, and sale of personal estate of James Claxon dec'd by John C. Bates, his administrator. Buyers were "Widow" Claxon, Paul Smoot, William Claxon, David Criswell, Joseph Thomas, Robert Quisenberry, Spencer Carter, and John C. Bates (Owen Co Will book C, p. 190/191). 18 Dec 1843, above ordered recorded (Owen Co court order book D, p. 297).

DEEDS
1842, 16 Jul, John Downs of Henry Co mortgaged his crops to James Claxon of Owen Co. (Henry Co KY deeds, v. 19, p. 418).
1843, 23 Jan, James Claxon (legatee of estate of David Criswell, dec'd) mortgaged to John C. Bates his interest in the David Criswell estate, also 58 acres named in 25 Oct 1841 bond from John Bates to James Claxon, also unknown acres named in 23 Jan 1843 bond from John Meek to James Claxon, as security against $586.50 debt (Owen Co deed book H, p. 258).
1846, 31 Oct, Heirs to James Claxon estate, David H., Sarah A., Cassius, James N., Nancy J. Claxon sold 2 tracts (one of 58 acres, the other of unknown acres but being the same sold by John Meek to James Claxon on 22 Jun 1843) on Ky River to John C. Bates (adm of James Claxon, dec'd) for $300 (Owen Co. Deed Book J, p. 100).
1865, 15 Apr, D, C, JN, NJ Claxon and S Mullin (all James' heirs) leased 108 acres on Ky River to John H. Stewart (Owen Co. Deed Book Q, p 166).
1869,19 Mar, J. Newton & Nancy J. Claxon sold to T.W. Bates the "Ellen Claxon farm" of 108 acres on Ky River for $300 for J. Newton's interest and $250 for Nancy's interest (Owen Co deed book T, p. 403).
1869, 2 Oct, "Cashius" Claxon sold to T.W. Bates his interest in the Ellen Claxon farm for $350 (Owen Co deed book T, p. 404).
1871, 1 Jul, James D. & Sarah Ann Mullin of Louisville Ky sold to Levi Jones for $150 their 1/5 interest in 108 acres in Owen Co, "which descended to Sarah Ann Mullin (formerly Claxon) as one of the children of said Ellen Claxon, dec'd" (Owen Co deed book V, p. 41).
!BIRTH: Hallie Claxon Bible; gravestone; assume reached age 21 in 1827 when first appears on tax list. 1880 census says father and mother of Sarah Ann CLAXTON Mullin born in Ireland and father and mother of her husband born in KY, but this has been determined to be reversed. 1900 census for son David H. states David's father born VA. Records of Mrs. Frank S. Gray show 5 Aug 1805.

!DEATH: Tax and probate records indicate 1843 (but gravestone transcribed as 1884!). Records of Mrs Hilma Claxon give 11 Aug 1844. Not present in 1850 census, but last child born about 1841. Wife listed as widow upon her death in 1858. James CLAXON probate in Owen Co. in 1843 (Owen Co KY will book). John C. Bates appointed administrator of estate of James CLAXON dec'd (widow renounced her rights) on 16 Oct 1843. Inventory and Sale Bill of property returned to court on 18 Dec 1843 (Owen Co KY court order book "D", pp 290 and 297).
