George Bassett
GREENFIELD – Funeral services for George Bassett, 77, of 17 Pleasant St., who died Friday, will be Monday at 2 at the McCarthy funeral home, Greenfield. Burial will be in the Howland Cemetery, Conway. There are no visiting hours.
Mr. Bassett was born in Guilford, Vt., Oct. 17, 1883, the son of Moses and Rosalie (Aubrey) Bassett, and had been a resident of Greenfield for the past 35 years. He was employed in the building trade and also at one time by the Millers Falls Company. He retired from active work 15 years ago.
He leaves five sons, Lawrence of Van Nuyes, Cal., Millard of Auborn, Clarence, Erving and Harold, of Greenfield; one daughter, Mrs. Violet Hall of Leyden; two brothers, Joseph and Moses of Greenfield; two sisters, Mrs. Gladys Murley of Greenfield, and Mrs. Daisy Holmes of Haydenville; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
