Robert E. Brassor (1915 ? 2015)
NORTHFIELD - Robert E. Brassor, 99. of Winchester Rd., Northfield, died Thursday, Jan. 15, at home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Northfield on September 19, 1915 the son of Frank and Nellie (Bassett) Brassor, one of fifteen children.
Bob was educated in Northfield schools, and was married October 10, 1947 to Ruth E. (Spaulding) in Brattleboro, VT. They were married for 62 years when Ruth predeceased him in 2009.
He was the holder of Northfield's Gold Cane, being its oldest resident. He worked for the Northfield Mt. Hermon School as a carpenter for over 30 years retiring in 1979. He built the house he resided in, in 1948, always doing needed repairs and updates as needed.
He was a faithful member of Living Waters Assembly of God church in Greenfield. For many years he was the behind the scenes maintenance person for the church doing numerous repairs as needed. He enjoyed sugaring with his neighbor, gardening, and raising chickens and pigs. His greatest joy was time spent with his wife and family.
He is survived by his son and caregiver David and his wife Barb of Northfield, and his grandchildren who he adored Kelly Kielbania and her husband Thomas of Chicopee, MA and Keri Peila and her husband Brian of Gill, MA. and great grandchildren Noah, Hannah, and Owen Keilbania, and Brian Jr, Samantha, and Benjamin Peila. He is also survived by two sisters: Esther Pratt of Charlemont, MA and Marion Raymond of Ft. Kent, ME. Many nieces and nephews.
There will be a celebration of his life at the Brassor home, 213 Winchester Rd., Northfield on Saturday, January 23, 2015 at 11:00 A.M.
