He came to Lexington a year ago from Monticello, Ark., where he was an optician. He was born in Mississippi. He is survived by his wife, Flora Richards Bassett; three daughters, Mrs. Joe Newberg, Lexington, and Mrs. Myrtle Watkins and Mrs. Eunice Van Wye, Chatham, Miss.; a son, T.Z. Bassett Jr., U.S. Army; four brothers, Clarence Bassett, Dallas, Texas, Carl Bassett, Mascot, Texas; Mesich Bassett, Forest, Miss., and Lee Bassett, Hattiesburg, Miss.; two sisters, Mrs. Nancy Thompson and Mrs. Dorothy Cooper, Morton, Miss.; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The body was taken from Kerr Brothers funeral home to the Collison funeral home in Bald Knob, Ark., where services will be held. Lexington Leader, Kentucky, Monday, February 8, 1954 Thomas Z. Bassett BASSETT ? Services for Thomas Zachary Bassett, 73, of the Stone road, will be conducted at the Collison funeral home Bald Knob, Ark. Burial will be in the family cemetery at Bald Knob. Mr. Bassett died at 7:15 a.m. Sunday at his home after a long illness. He was a native of Mississippi. Mr. Bassett moved to Lexington a year ago from Monticello, Ark., where he had been an optician. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Flora Richards Bassett; three daughters, Mrs. Joe Newberg, Lexington, and Mrs. Myrtle Watkins and Mrs. Eunice Van Wye, Chatham, Miss.; a son, T.Z.
