Barbara Lamar Roberts
Barbara Lamar Roberts, 67, of Cameron, died Sunday, March 21, 2004 at her home. Services 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 24 at funeral home. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetey. Barbara was born December 10, 1936 to Nel and Curenna "Sammie" (Nelson) Bassett in Pulaski, Virginia. She graduated from Anderson College in Indiana and on February 22, 1957 she married Alvin L. Roberts. Mrs. Roberts, a homemaker was also an artist. She was a member of the Arts and Service League, and the Ladies Gold Association. Barbara was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Cameron where she was actively involved in the church choir. Preceding her in death is her brother, Robert L. Bassett. Survivors include her husband Alvin Roberts of Cameron, her son Alvin Lynn Roberts, Jr. and wife Holly of Cameron, daughters Deborah Kay Burnett of Temple, Linda Renee Seaton of Cameron, brother James N. Bassett and wife Maria of Universal City, TX, sisters Linda B. Hall and husband Ron, Rosalie Taylor and husband Scott and Rosanne Wilson and husband Doug all of Pulaski, VA and 4 grandchildren, Jeffery Lynn Roberts, Lyndsey Michelle Burnett, Cassandera June Roberts and Mandi Marie Seaton. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church Choir Fund and/or the American Cancer Society.
