Wayne Bassett Bard
Wayne Bassett Bard passed away at home on September 13, 2025. He was born March 23, 1940 in Danbury, Connecticut and grew up in nearby Bethel, where he developed his lifelong love of cars and music, worked on his Model A Ford and played his sax in local swing bands. He graduated from Lynchburg College in Virginia and received his MBA from Rutgers in New Jersey, and was a CPA with Arthur Andersen & Co in New York City and Charlotte, NC. He was active in church and community, including Cub Scouts and Indian Guides with his young sons, and the Sport Car Club of America. He moved to Seminole, Florida in 1972 and worked with the Community Bank of Seminole, Peoples Bank, Republic Bank and Synovus Bank, and he retired in 2004. Wayne loved antique cars, all auto sports, classic country music, beach and mountain vacations, and family activities. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty; and three sons, Jeffrey, Ricky (William), and Don (Gordon); and five grandchildren, Emily, Ethan, Evan, Samuel, and Jasmine. His family is celebrating his life privately, according to his wishes.
