11/14/2008 KATHERINE E. (DUBRAY) BESSETTE BURLINGTON — Katherine "Kay" E. (Dubray) Bessette, 90, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008, in Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington with her loved ones by her side.Kay was born on Dec. 15, 1917, in Johnson, Vt., daughter of the late Napoleon and Eliza (Lamelle) Dubray. Kay was awarded "Miss Johnson" in 1933, and graduated from Johnson High School in 1935.She was a member of the Johnson High School basketball team. Kay married Norman Paul Bessette Sr. at St. Joseph's Church in Burlington on Aug. 4, 1942. Her life was devoted to her two children, four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Kay's greatest passion was pastry baking and sharing it with family and friends (especially her peach pie). Kay enjoyed watching professional basketball and always rooted for the "underdog." Her greatest and most precious love was her faith in God, Jesus, St. Anne and all the Saints. A day never went by that she did not say multiple rosaries and prayer cards. Her caring, sensitivity and sense of humor will be greatly missed by all. She is survived by her son Norman Paul Bessette Jr. and wife Louise of Madison, Ga.; her daughter Brenda Potvin and David Modica of Burlington; her sister-in-law Willimae Dubray of Fairfax; four grandchildren, Norman Paul Bessette III and Samantha Dingler of Madison, Ga., Emily Bessette of Athens, Ga., Carey Lube and husband Michael of Indiana, Jennifer Fath and husband Stephen of Colchester; eight great-grandchildren, Tabitha Bessette, Norman Paul Bessette IV, Kimberly Matthews, Benedict Lube, Meredith Lube, Samuel Fath, Brendan Fath, Collin Fath; many nieces and nephews including her nephew Bill who held a special place in her heart.She is also predeceased by her husband Norman Paul Bessette Sr. in 1972; her six brothers, Harold Dubray, Lloyd Dubray, Merrill Dubray, Ralph Dubray, Roger Dubray, Roland Dubray; her three sisters, Eleanor Dezaine, Lydia Hooper, Thelma Dubray; and her great-grandson Oliver Wyatt Lube in 2008. There will be no public visiting hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008, at 11 a.m., in St. Mark's Church in Burlington with the Reverend William Giroux officiating.Inurnment will follow in the family lot in the New Mount Calvary Cemetery.
