The Rev. Frederic L. C. Lorentgen, rector, officiated at the marriage of Miss Joan Barbara Vornkahl, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Vornkahl of Weston road, to Roger Bassett, son of Mrs. Leroy Bassett of Bridge street which was solemnized June 18 at 4 p.m. in Christ and Holy Trinity Episcopal church. Mrs. Ethel Brandon played the organ program, and Dorothy Rabineau sang.
The bride was gowned in white organdy, the neckline outlined with embroidered organdy flowers. She wore an illusion veil which fell fingertip length from an organdy headdress, and carried a spray of orchids and stephanotis.
The three attendants, Miss Carol Vornkahl, maid of honor, Mrs. William Cuyax and Miss Sally Miller were gowned alike in pale green organdy with which they more straw hats, and carried sprays of daisies and ivy.
William Guyas was best man and William Kornkahl, Lawrence Schaefer and Thomas Caldwell ushered.
A reception in the home of the bride?s parents followed the ceremony, when the bride?s mother in beige with pink accessories and the bridegroom?s mother in powder blue, with navy accessories, assisted in receiving.
When the couple left for their wedding trip, the bride wore a navy blue dress with white accessories.
Both the bride and bridegroom are graduates of Staples high school, Mrs. Bassett is with the Westport Bank and Trust company, and Mr. Bassett, an alumnus of the University of Bridgeport, is with the Edward company, Norwalk.
