Norris James Bassett
Norris James Bassett died Aug. 13, 2022, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.
He was born Nov. 5, 1936, outside of Dixon, Missouri, to Wayne Johnson and Opal Lillian (Doyel) Bassett. He graduated from Dixon High School in 1954, and married Joyce Lee Edwards on Sept. 1, 1957.
He graduated from Rolla School of Mines and Metallurgy (now Missouri University of Science & Technology) in 1959 with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, and graduated from Purdue University in 1967 with a master's degree in engineering.
Served in the Army Reserves Corps of Engineers from 1959 until honorably discharged in 1967.
Spent entire career as an electrical engineer and manager employed by Delco Remy division of General Motors in Anderson, Indiana (1959-1992).
Survived by wife of 65 years, Joyce of Carmel; son, Stephen (wife, Julie) of Austin, Texas; son, Clark (wife, Jill) of Carmel; grandchildren, Andrew Bassett of Grand Haven, Michigan, Sierra (husband, Cole) Miller of Austin, Texas, Noah Bassett of Grand Haven, Michigan, Spencer Bassett of Austin, Texas, and Mia Bassett of Carmel; brother, Donald (wife, Bonnie) Bassett of Ballwin, Missouri; sister, Janice Rosenburg of Rolla, Missouri; sister, Arlene Shanks of Vienna, Missouri; sister-in-law, Colleen (husband, John) Barnhart of Vienna, Missouri; many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members.
Preceded in death by parents, Wayne and Opal Bassett; parents-in-law, Ernie and Myrene Edwards; and brothers-in-law, Tom Rosenburg and Lloyd Shanks.
Beloved and dedicated husband, son, father, grandfather, and friend to many; quiet, thoughtful, generous man with great strength; always ready to assist those in need; longtime, former member of Central Christian Church in Anderson; loved spending time with family and friends, reading, genealogy, astronomy, boating and fishing.
Celebration of life service to follow Nov. 5, 2022, in Vienna, Missouri, at Birmingham Martin funeral home.

Norris Bassett
Norris James Bassett, age 85, of Carmel, Indiana, formerly of Dixon and Vienna, died Saturday, August 13, 2022, in St. Vincent Medical Center, Indianapolis, Indiana.
He was born November 5, 1936, near Dixon, a son of Wayne and Opal (Doyel) Bassett.
Norris was married September 1, 1957, at Vienna, to Joyce Lee (Edwards) Bassett, who survives along with sons, Stephen and Clark; brother, Donald; sisters, Janice and Arlene; and five grandchildren.
Memorial funeral services will be at 1 pm, Saturday, November 5, 2022, in Birmingham-Martin Funeral Chapel, Vienna.
