Ruth C. Bassett
Ruth C. Bassett, 78, of Marion, went to be with the Lord at 12:30 p.m., on Monday, Dec. 1, 2025, at Wesleyan Health Care & Rehabilitation Center in Marion. She was born in Brooklyn, New York, on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 1947, to Harold and Emma (Scarborough) Bassett.
Ruth graduated from Watchung Hills High School. She served with World Gospel Mission, where she worked as a missionary to Haiti and later as a secretary of the Field Ministries Department in Marion.
Ruth enjoyed keeping in contact with the many friends and supporters she had made around the world doing missions work. She liked listening to music and teaching. Ruth would say that her greatest accomplishment was the missions work she did in Haiti and WGM Headquarters.
Ruth is survived by her sister, Verna Mary Bassett of Bryan, OH; brother, Earl H. (Carole) Bassett of Rochester, NY; niece, Wendy (Jason) Strong of Rochester, NY; nephews, Scott (Keri) Bassett of NY and Troy (Diane) Bassett of NY; plus more nieces and nephews; and several special friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Inurnment will take place at a later date at North Chili Rural Cemetery in New York.
Arrangements are entrusted to Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion.
