Born in Fort Wayne, he was a World War II Army veteran and had worked as an electronics plant laboratory technician before his retirement. Surviving are his wife, Ann M.; a son, Matthew of New Haven; two stepsons, Mark Jansen of New Palestine and David Jansen of Fort Wayne; five daughters, Marjorie Kock of Washington state, Mary Ellen Culbreth of Coppell, Texas, Monica Koldyke of Columbia City and Cindy Brady of Lakeland, Fla., Karen Gillig of Fort Wayne and Kathy Dimke of Port Charlotte; 41 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. A son, Michael, preceded him in death. Services were Thursday at Paul Schelm Funeral Home, Port Charlotte.
