Dorothy Bass
CREVE COEUR -- Dorothy Agnes Bass, 81, of 708 S. Stewart died at 3:55 p.m. Monday, May 17, 1999, at Gateway Medical Center in Clarksville, Tenn.
Born Dec. 10, 1917, in Gainesville, Ky., to John Martin and Grace Elma Stovall Whitney, she married Clarence Leo Bass on Feb. 1, 1946, in Springfield. He died June 19, 1986, in St. Louis, Mo.
She also was preceded in death by two sons and one brother.
Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Harrison "Rowdy" (Lucille) Rowden of Pekin, Marie Peplow of Clarksville and Margaret Joesting of Bonita, Calif.; three granddaughters; and five great-grandchildren.
She was the customer service manager for Bergner's department store in Pekin Mall from July 1972 until she retired in 1984. She later taught needlework classes. She was a member of the Embroiders Guild of America, the American Needlepoint Guild and the National Needlework Association.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin chapel. The Rev. David Wetterland will officiate. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
