Allen James. ?A.J.? Bass Jr.
Mr. Allen James "A.J." Bass, Jr., 69, of 300 East Johnson Street, Clinton, died Wednesday at University of NC Hospital in Chapel Hill, NC.
Mr. Bass, born in Sampson County, was the son of the late Allen James Bass, Sr and Ann Hobbs Bass. He attended Clinton High School and the University of Georgia. He was a member of First united Methodist Church, a member of the Kiwanis Club of Clinton and a retired owner and operator of Bass Oil Company of Clinton.
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Rice Bass, a daughter, Ashley Renee Jennifer Bass and fiance' Andrew Foster of Chapel Hill, a son, Allen James Bass III and wife Helen of Cary, step-children, Susannah Chisholm Carter and husband Bryan of Charleston, SC; Frederick Alexander Chisholm of Wilmington, and Douglas Alan Williams and wife Jennifer of Clinton, grandchildren, Carter Bass, Cooper Bass, Hudson Bass, step-grandchildren, Margaret Katryn Carter, Wells B. Smith Cook and Michael Williams.
The family received friends one hour prior services at the church and other times at the home.
The funeral services were held at 2pm, Saturday, July 23, 2011 at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bob Redmond officiating.
Burial was made in the Clinton City Cemetery.
The family entrusted the care of Mr. Bass to the Royal-Hall Funeral Home of Clinton.
