  Notes	Cleveland Plain Dealer, January 29, 1870 Extraordinary Longevity The family of Nicholas Bassett, who resides in Linton township, Coshocton county, presents an array of years seldom seen. Mr. Nicholas Bassett, born in 1787, and is therefore 83 years of age; his wife was born in 1786, being his senior by one year. Both Mr. and Mrs. Bassett are in the enjoyment of good health, and bid fair to remain for several years to come. They were married in 1807. Their children, ten in number, seven boys and three girls, are all living - the oldest child being sixty-one, and the youngest forty-three years old. Combined ages of the ten children 526 years; of the ten children and their parents, 693 years. They have fifty-six grandchildren; thirty-eight living, and eighteen dead; and seven great-grandchildren, six living and one dead. Historical Collections of Coshocton County, Ohio (1876) Nicholas Bassett came from Mohawk Valley, New York, and settled in Linton township, more than forty years ago. He died on the 11th of March, 1875, in the eighty-ninth year of his age. A friend says "He was a very active and energetic man in the days of his strength; firm in purpose and vigorous in action; a man of noticeable sort in speech and movement.
