Born on September 29, 1920, in Stratford, CT, he was the son of the late George W. and Annie Evangeline Nelson Bassett. He was a Master Mechanic, a Mason and Shriner, and a U.S. Veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Rachel Hodge Bassett; a daughter, Anita M. Crochet and her husband Reginald of Pauline; a grandson, Jeffrey P. Crochet of Pauline; and a brother, Edward Bassett of Vermont. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, September 29, 2006, at Floyds North Church Street Chapel. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
