William Edward Bassett, 82, of 140 Otis Street, a retired salesman for Parsons Brothers Plumbing Supply Co., Bridgeport, died Wednesday in Bridgeport Hospital. Services will take place Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Dennis and D?Arcy Funeral Home, 2611 Main Street with the Rev. Kenneth W. Taber, rector of Christ Episcopal Church officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Bridgeport. Born in Stratford, he was a lifelong town resident. He was a member of the Bridgeport Mens Garden Clug, past treasurer of the Stratford Historical Society, and former vestryman for Christ Episcopal Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. C. Arthetta Berg Bassett; a son, S. Wayne Bassett of Stratford; a daughter, Mrs. Charlotte Crosby of New York City; a brother Milton W. Bassett of Stuart, Fla., three grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
