    • 3B36571112. Harvey Ray Bassett, son of George and Jessie (Harvey) Bassett, was born 7 Sep 1894 in Herkimer, Herkimer County, New York. He died 24 Jun 1946 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He married Tena Beryl Whaley, daughter of Herbert and Ella (Morrow) Whaley, on 25 Apr 1923 in Toronto, Ontario. She was born in 1900. She died in 1984. She was a Canadian, born in Barre, Ontario, and grew to adulthood in Toronto.
      Harvey and his brother James Corby Bassett came to Woodstock because Uncle Ken Harvey offered James a position at the Harvey Knitting Company. They lived together at the YMCA in Woodstock until Jim married Margaret McLean.
      Harvey served in the World War I in the 6th, then 116th Engineers, Sunset Division, US Army. Harvey apprenticed as a photographer at Round's Studio in Woodstock and became a well known photographer, moving to Montreal to work for the Associated Screen News Agency. He was the
      photographer who travelled across Canada to take pictures when the Queen visited in the early 1950's. Harvey died at his home, 4180 Harvard Avenue, Montreal, in his 52nd year. At the time of his death, he was manager of Associated Screen News, commercial photo and portrait studio, with whom he had been connected to for the previous 23 years. The funeral was conducted from D.A. Collins' Chapel, 5610 Sherbrooke St. W., Montreal.
      The wedding of Harvey Bassett and Tena Whaley was officiated by the Rev. Dr. W.R. Young. Beryl's sister Norma was bridesmaid and W. Ross Boyd was best man. Ushers were Oriel McNaughton and Douglas Sinclair. The reception was held at the home of Beryl's parents, 261 St. Clarens, Toronto, Ontario. The wedding trip was taken to New York and Boston.
      Harvey was buried in Mount Royal Cemetery, Montreal, Quebec. Tena Beryl was cremated and buried with her husband.
