George A. Bassett
George A. Bassett, age 96, formerly of Cambridge, Idaho passed away Monday Aug. 7, 2006 in Weiser. Visitation will be Saturday Aug. 12, 2006 from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the Cambridge LDS Church with services following at 11 a.m. Interment will be at the Cambridge Cemetery in Cambridge. George was born on Sept. 7, 1909 in Poplar, Idaho to Chancy and Mary Anes Wetzel Bassett. He married Gladys Sutton on Nov. 29, 1933. They resided in Emmett and Cambridge. George enjoyed fishing and wood working. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. George is survived by his son, Richard Bassett of Mountain Home; daughter, Mary Dejesus of Fruitland; son, Carl Bassett of Denver, Colo.; 15 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Sutton Bassett; parents; brother, Lewis Bassett; sisters, Verna Draper, Hazel McKay, and Mary Martin. Memorials may be made in Georges name to the Cambridge Senior Center or Cambridge Ambulance Fund. Thomason Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
