Apostle Wayne Norris Bass

Apostle Wayne Norris Bass, age 71, of Roxboro, NC, departed this life Saturday, September 11, 2021 in Duke Regional Hospital in Durham, NC. He was born in Person County and was the Pastor of Preparatory Temple of Jesus Christ in Roxboro.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Garland and Mattie Ragland Bass; two brothers: Harry Bass and Andre` Bass; and four sisters: Leora Brooks, Yvonne McCall, Jean Garcia and Brenda Ray.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Sapp Bass of the home; two daughters: Yolanda Clark (Michael) of Garner, NC and Katrina Satchell (Greg) of Roxboro, NC; four grandchildren: Latrice Cameron (Jerald) of Roxboro, Devon W. Bass (Ivy) of Durham, NC, Promise McCoy, also of Garner and Gavin Satchell of Roxboro; four great-grandchildren: Nevaeh Johnson, Ilijah Johnson, Emonie Bass and Israel Cameron, all of Roxboro; three brothers: Garland L. Bass of Roxboro, Reginald Bass (Elaine) of Timberlake, NC and Michael Bass of NY; five sisters: Myrtle Tucker (John) of Roxboro, Theora Yellock (Jimmy) of Burlington, NC, Deborah Outlaw (Michael) of Roxboro, Joan Brittan (Tony) of Taylor, SC and Angie Russell (Nathan) of Durham; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The funeral service will be held Friday, September 17, 2021 at 2:00pm at the funeral home with Apostle Hettie G. Hunter of Deliverance Evangelistic Tabernacle of Praise God, Inc. providing the eulogy and the Rev. Clyde A. Glass, Pastor of Old Mt. Zion Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, 1111 Oak Grove Mt. Zion Road, Roxboro, NC 27574. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Preparatory Temple of Jesus Christ, 902 North Main Street in Roxboro, NC and Friday at the funeral home from 1:00pm to 2:00pm when his body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.
Attendance at the service is limited to sixty individuals and guests are pre-determined by the family. Please check with the family before the day of the service to confirm that your name is on the guest list. Face masks and social distancing are required.
At other times, the family will receive friends at the home, 229 Dink Ashley Road, Timberlake, NC 27583.
