Maurice H. Bessette
DANNEMORA – Mr. Maurice H. “Moe” Bessette, 91, of Smith Street, Dannemora, passed away Monday, June 6, 2005, at the home of his son Robert in San Juan Capistrano, Calif.
He was born in Malone, N.Y., on Oct. 15, 1913, the son of Moses and Lucia (LaVoie) Bessette.
Maurice was an avid bowler and a member of the Plattsburgh Bowling Association Board of Directors, a life member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Plattsburgh Lodge 621. He had been a scout master with the Boy Scouts and he enjoyed the out of doors, golfing, hunting and he was an expert fly fisherman. Maurice was a member of St. Joseph’s Church, Dannemora.
He was predeceased by his parents, Moses and Lucia Bessette; his wife, Frances (Alpert) Bessette; his sisters, Eleanor Bessette and Evelyn McMillan.
Maurice is survived by his three sons, William Bessette and his wife Judy of Chazy Lake, N.Y., Robert Bessette and his wife Nancy of San Juan Capistrano, Calif., Richard Bessette of San Diego, Calif.; four grandchildren, William Bessette and his wife Diane of Burlington, N.J., Michael and his wife Shannon of Dannemora, Kristen Bessette and Tracy Bessette both of San Juan Capistrano, Calif.; a great-granddaughter, Lauren Bessette of Burlington, J.J.; a sister, Marjorie Bessette of Dannemora; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 1 p.m. from St. Josephe’s Church in Dannemora with the Rev. Donald Kramberg, pastor, as celebrant. Entombment will follow at Whispering Maples Mausoleum on Tom Miller Road, Plattsburgh.
